BackerKit Surveys
We're using BackerKit to collect information about your Hall of Heroes acknowledgments, Badges, Big Bad Online scheduling, and more. Look for the survey email in your inbox next week!
Behind the Scenes
We've been working with out Babble On Equity Project Recipients, Stretch Goal Guests, GMs, and volunteers to plan this year's events. We have over 150 events already. Take a look at our roster!
What to expect next - Important Dates
Here's an outline of the important dates coming up:
- BackerKit surveys will be open through 7/31.
- Scholarship applications are open through 8/15.
- Event submissions will go through 8/15.
- We'll build the schedule once submissions close and publish it in late August.
- Event sign ups will go live in early September (exact date will be announced when the schedule is published).
- The con runs from October 10-13. I hope to see you there!

We did it. We blazed past every goal (and then some), I know I say this every year, but I really believe this will be the best Big Bad Con yet. Between the amazing folks coming from the Babble On Equity Project, our fantastic Stretch Goal Guests, and you (yes, you!), BBC is going to great!
So, what's next?
Over the next few weeks we'll be working on two things, BackerKit and the Scholarship fund.
BackerKit
We use BackerKit to handle all our deliverables. There you can tell us your Big Bad Con account information so we can assign badges, let us know any dietary restrictions for Little Reds Baskets, schedule Big Bad Online games, and purchase add-ons, like our amazing apparel with art from Jabari Weathers.
Expect to see surveys go out around end of June.
Scholarship
Around the same time as BackerKit opens, we'll also start taking applications for our Scholarship Fund. The fund that many of you help build! In order to ensure that we can get the funds to recipients in a timely manner, we'll leave the applications open through mid-August and send out disbursements by early September.

Hi friends,
The campaign is going amazingly well. We've raised enough to bring so many wonderful folks to the con, and more stretch goals are on the horizon! A few fun updates before the long weekend:
Big Bad Game Jam 2019
Thanks to the hard work of Jenn Martin, Nathan Black, and DC, Big Bad Con is hosting our first game jam. When the jam closes creators will have the option include their game in an Anthology, with proceeds going towards our scholarship—which will help us bring more folks to the convention!

Big Bad Wallpaper
We've got a extra reward for backers!
Our amazing artist Eden Parkinson has made a beautiful rendition of battleaxe-wielding Little Red and detective The Wolf. Our own Colin Fahrion has (with permission) created desktop and mobile wallpapers featuring these amazing new characters. Here's a preview:
We'll share a link to the high resolution wallpapers (for both desktop and mobile) in the next backer-only update!
KublaCon
This weekend I'll be at KublaCon in Burlingame, CA. I'll be spending most of my time in the atrium playtesting games and visiting with folks. If you happen to in the neighborhood, swing by and say hi!

Campaign Progress
Thank you all again for your incredible generosity. The Kickstarter campaign is going better than I had even hoped! We've already hit many of our original stretch goals. Because of your contributions we'll have art commissioned from Jabari Weathers, land skills taught by Jeeyon Shim, and we're bringing Whitney M. Delaglio, Hannah Shaffer, Brandon Leon-Gambetta, Clio Yun-su Davis, Albert Kong, April Walsh, Avery Alder, Jerry D. Grayson, Alex Rowland, Kat Jones, and Andrew Gillis to the con!
We're very close to bringing out the Baker family (Meg, Vincent, Sebastian, Elliot, and Tovey), Jahmal ‘Mad Jay’ Brown, James D’Amato, and a few more folks yet to be revealed!
This is all phenomenal. But there is even more that I'm excited about for 2019!
POC Dinner at Big Bad Con
This year we’re excited to host our first POC dinner at Big Bad Con. In the tradition of WisCon, this dinner will be an opportunity to meet and mingle with other amazing people of color.
Several generous sponsors have made individual contributions (outside of Kickstarter) to ensure that all of the people of color coming to Big Bad Con as stretch goal guests, Babble On Equity Protect recipients, or staff will have free admission to the dinner. They’ve also helped subsidize the cost for our other attendees of color, bringing the dinner price down from $45 to $20 a seat.
